About Me

Hello! My name is Jessica Hoekstra.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Seattle, Washington and a Washington State Approved Clinical Supervisor. For the last 8 years, I have supported people from a variety of backgrounds to find growth and healing.

I am a trauma-informed relational and somatic psychotherapist. I have specialized training in attachment, trauma, family of origin, parts work (IFS), interpersonal neurobiology, and Somatic Experiencing. I am a warm, gentle, challenging, and playful therapist.

My clinical experience includes working with people in crisis in inpatient mental health. Additionally, I have taught and assisted students on their graduate education journey to become therapists. I’ve focused my practice on working with adult women on issues of relationships and attachment, trauma, sexuality, grief and loss, identity development, and major life transitions. I am also interested in how our social and cultural systems impact how we grow and develop, or what gets stifled, ignored, or oppressed.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Columbia College in Chicago, IL, and I completed my Masters in Counseling Psychology at The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology.

My work as a therapist was perhaps most inspired by my own experience of counseling, where, with time and good companionship, I discovered safety, healing, support, and began to truly come home to myself. My personal transformation through good therapeutic support continues to fuel and inspire my work.

Out of the office, I enjoy spending time in nature—running, hiking and camping, bird-watching, cooking, or settling in with a good book.
